Themed cafés in Kraków — Harry Potter, The Witcher, cats and more
Kraków’s themed cafés offer more than coffee and cake. In the city centre you can drink butterbeer as in the world of Harry Potter, pay in ducats at a tavern straight out of “The Witcher”, sip a drink from a chemistry flask or have coffee surrounded by cats. Here are five tried-and-tested unusual places (as of October 2026).
1. Harry Potter in Kraków — Dziórawy Kocioł
Address: Grodzka 50/1
A café in the cellar of a townhouse on the Royal Route, inspired by the world of Harry Potter. The menu has butterbeer, pumpkin juice and colourful “potions” — some served with dry ice, all alcohol-free. There’s also a magic shop with wands and gadgets, board games, and occasional magic shows.
2. The Witcher in Kraków — Wilczy Dół Tavern
Address: Szpitalna Street (down from a former shopping arcade, by the Teatr Słowackiego tram stop)
A tavern for fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga. You exchange złoty for ducats with the “shopkeeper” and pay for your food with them — Polish cuisine in medieval style. You mix the cocktail “potions” yourself following instructions on a scroll, and each can be made alcohol-free. The staff stay in character, and you can play Gwent.
3. Kraków Cat Café (Kocia Kawiarnia)
Address: Lubicz 1 (opposite Galeria Krakowska)
According to the café itself, it was the first cat café in Poland, open since 2015. You can have coffee, tea and cake in the company of more than a dozen cats who live here — just don’t disturb them while they’re resting. Children under 6 are not admitted. A second location at Karmelicka 10 has been open to guests only at weekends since October 2026.
4. Kolba Resto-Bar — drinks straight from the lab
Address: Wiślna 5/3
A place for chemistry fans: drinks come in flasks and test tubes, sometimes in clouds of dry ice, and the interior looks like an alchemist’s laboratory. There are also home-made liqueurs on the menu.
5. Massolit Books & Café — for book lovers
Address: Felicjanek 4
An English-language bookshop combined with a café — a cosy place for coffee among the shelves, a few minutes’ walk from the Planty park. Perfect for a quiet afternoon with a book.
