Japanese restaurants in Kraków — 7 places for ramen, curry and sushi

A Japanese restaurant in Kraków doesn’t have to mean sushi. In Japan, everyday food is more often ramen, curry or a bowl of rice topped with a cutlet — and that’s exactly what you’ll find in the city centre. We’ve picked five reliable places for ramen and Japanese home cooking, plus two addresses for sushi lovers. All of them are open (as of October 2026), most in Kazimierz and around Karmelicka Street.

Akita Ramen — Kazimierz

Address: Węgłowa 4/LU 10

One of the most popular ramen spots in Kraków, on a side street in Kazimierz. The menu has mild and spicy broths as well as vegan ramen. Popularity comes at a price: at weekends there’s often a queue outside, so it’s best to come outside peak lunch hours.

Ramen People — Karmelicka and Podgórze

Addresses: Karmelicka 22 and Nadwiślańska 5/L1

Many locals say this is the best ramen in town — judge for yourself. Ramen People has two restaurants: on Karmelicka Street, a few minutes from the Main Square, and across the Vistula in Podgórze. You can add extra toppings (such as chashu pork or an egg), there are vegan options and curry on the menu, and Japanese sake to drink. You may have to wait a little for a table.

Kinki Ramen — by the Planty park

Address: Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 1

Besides classic ramen, Kinki Ramen serves mazemen — brothless ramen where the noodles are tossed in a thick sauce — and Japanese starters such as gyoza and karaage. It’s right by the Planty park, a few minutes’ walk from the Main Square and Wawel.

Doskoi Kraków — Japanese Food

Address: Karmelicka 54/2 (more locations include Hala Lipowa food hall at Lipowa 4D)

There’s no ramen at Doskoi — it’s all about Japanese home cooking. The favourites are rice bowls (donburi) such as katsu don and teriyaki don, Japanese curry, udon and miso soup. By the entrance there’s a small shop with products from Japan, so you can pick something up for your own kitchen.

The Tokio Tower — a micro-restaurant in Kazimierz

Address: Podbrzezie 2

A real gem: a tiny place with just a dozen or so seats, run by an elderly Japanese man who came to Poland and decided to stay. The menu is short — six dishes, including butatamadon, katsudon and katsu curry — cooked the way they’re eaten in Japan. As in a Japanese diner, your order comes with water and miso soup. The restaurant has been recognised in the Orły Gastronomii awards. With so few seats, expect a queue.

For sushi: Edo Sushi Bar and Hana Sushi

Edo Sushi Bar (Bożego Ciała 3, Kazimierz) has been open since 2005 and is considered the oldest sushi bar in Kraków. It serves signature sushi and sashimi, and there’s ramen on the menu too.

Hana Sushi (Kupa 12, Kazimierz) is recommended in the MICHELIN Guide. Alongside sushi and Japanese starters, its menu also features Korean dishes.

Opening hours can change — check the restaurant’s website or social media before you go.

Where to stay in Kraków

Most of these places are in Kazimierz, so a convenient base is Hotel Regent at Bożego Ciała 19 — the same street as Edo Sushi Bar. Closer to the Main Square and Karmelicka Street, stay at Best Western Plus Kraków Old Town at Świętej Gertrudy 6, about 500 m from the Main Square.
